The district’s Career and Technical Education cosmetology program students participated in the Long Island Women in Philanthropy Breakfast and Fashion Show at the Mansion at Oyster Bay on March 30. The annual event supports the Family and Children’s Association.
The students contributed hair and makeup services, gaining real-world and philanthropic experience in the process. The participating students included Sanaaya Francois and Akossiwa Galvo from Elmont Memorial High School; Alexandria Ghobrial, Saoirse McGrath and Gabby Sismit from Floral Park Memorial High School; Jennifer Avila, Ella Bove, Annabella Piretto and Cassie Shepherd from H. Frank Carey High School; and Maria Camila Arias from Sewanhaka High School. Cosmetology program alumni Destiny Pierre also contributed her services to support the Sewanhaka team and was a featured entrepreneur at the post-show women’s market.
“This was an experience I would definitely do again,” Francois said. “It feels good to make others feel beautiful.”
