The district’s Robotics Club competed at the Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier Tournament at Locust Valley High School on Feb. 4.
Sewanhaka’s team ranked fifth out of 22 teams from across Long Island. The team also received the Control Award, which is given to the team that demonstrates innovative thinking to solve game challenges such as autonomous operation, improving mechanical systems with intelligent control, or using sensors to achieve better results.
There were five qualifying tournaments held this season. Teams were able to register for two or three events to compete for the chance to be selected for the Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge Regional Championship. Sewanhaka will compete at the regional championship on March 3.
