Twenty-six district students had their artwork selected for display in the Art Supervisors Association 19th annual Nassau All-County Art Exhibition, which took place at Long Beach High School on March 19.
This year, hundreds of art educators from across Nassau County submitted students’ artwork to the exhibition. More than 1,500 K-12 students had their work displayed in a variety of two-dimensional visual art mediums including pencil, pastels, ink, charcoal, painting, printmaking, computer graphics, collage and photography.
The Sewanhaka students who had their artwork displayed included Joaquin Davila, Cara Hooke, Namanpreet Kaur, Makayla Metellus, Frank Nieves, Nishita Patel, Jordan Rencher-Pelissier, Julia Santos and Alice Valenzuela from Elmont Memorial High School; Kriselle Changtongkam, Victor Donoso, Rebecca Lin, Ariana Salcedo and Fiona So from Floral Park Memorial High School; Grace Leder, Ava Queen, Sofia Ramirez, Shamiha Shariz and Daniela Zavala from H. Frank Carey High School; Ann Aphraim, Alyssa Hardeen, Hiedi Niebergail and Sabeena Ramdarie from New Hyde Park Memorial High School; and Neha Anthony, Melanie Hernandez and Shanti Jean-Louis from Sewanhaka High School.
Additionally, the Art Supervisors Association awarded scholarships to more than 50 graduating senior art students. Makayla Metellus of Elmont Memorial High School, Ariana Salcedo of Floral Park Memorial High School, Grace Leder of H. Frank Carey High School, Alyssa Hardeen of New Hyde Park Memorial High School and Neha Anthony of Sewanhaka High School were the ASA Senior Scholarship recipients.
