Dear Sewanhaka Central High School District Community,
I am very pleased to announce to the entire District that last evening the Board of Education appointed principals of both Elmont Memorial High School and H. Frank Carey High School.
The new Principal of Elmont Memorial High School is Ms. Marya Baker. Her immediate experience is as principal of The Carol and Frank Biondi Middle and High School at the Rising Ground Agency in Yonkers, New York. She has been there since 2014 and before that, served as Principal and Director of Instruction at the Opportunity Charter School.
The new Principal of H. Frank Carey High School is well known to the District as it is Ms. Jennifer Alaimo, currently an Assistant Principal at Floral Park Memorial High School. Her prior experience was as Special Education Chairperson also at Floral Park Memorial High School. She has dedicated over 20 years of service to the District.
Please join me in welcoming them both. There will be opportunities for both the Elmont and Franklin Square communities to meet their new principals in the coming weeks. We anticipate that both will be present at the start of the year and ready to begin.
In addition to congratulating both candidates, I would also like to thank the committees of parents, students, and staff who assisted with the screening and interviewing process. Their input was valuable, and the Board of Education and District Administration relied upon it in guiding this decision.
The new school year will soon be upon us, and I am very happy that we can begin the year with new leadership at both buildings.
