Science Research is proud to announce that the following students have been awarded for their outstanding scientific research presented at the South Asian American Women’s Association (SAAWA) 2024 Senior Science Fair.

Aafia Ahmed won First Place in Biology ($100) for her work investigating cellular mechanisms of protection against methylmercury.

Kahela Michel won First Place in Earth & Environmental Sciences ($125) for her study investigating how increased bacterial levels impact microplastic filtration by oysters.

Chase Ridley won Second Place in Earth & Environmental Sciences ($75) for his work developing a composite building material for use on Mars.

Emaan Tehseen won Third Place in STEM ($50) for her work developing a machine learning model to efficiently identify cancerous thyroid nodules.
