The PPS Department nominated the following students for their positive attitude. The September Model Citizens are:
Marlee Cadet was positive and helpful to a friend in need. She went out of her way to assist this person, was selfless and demonstrated that she is a true leader who can be counted on.
Giancarlos Montero Suriel is a new entrant to Elmont this year who has embraced the school culture by being involved in and out of the classroom, and demonstrating consistent effort while exhibiting school spirit and a positive attitude.
Manreet Kaur is a stand out seventh grader who has not only made a smooth transition to Elmont but has shown great pride and determination in her attitude and effort making a difference and making Elmont a better place.
Evangeline Moonsammy is a ninth grader who has overcome many challenges with such style and grace. She has a positive attitude and an “I got this” mindset. Evangeline approaches life with gratitude and is a beacon of light to those she encounters.
Saudry Brisita has started off her 10th grade year with an extremely positive attitude. She is determined to stay on top of her schoolwork and has demonstrated growth and resiliency in her attitude and effort.
Leslie Sibrian Guzman, a senior, took it upon herself to go out and get lunch for a younger student when she found out that she didn't get to eat lunch. She is a great example that this world is full of nice people, if you can't find one, then be one.
Mondy Olivier is an ambitious student who is eager to learn and take advantage of all opportunities that will help her grow into a successful individual. Mondy always shows up with a positive attitude and a smile. She is proactive in her educational planning as well as extracurriculars as she focuses on her growth. Mondy is a member of Leading Ladies, TAWK, Key Club and the newly started Elmont Ambassadors internship initiative. Mondy is a model student.
Cara Moise reached out to a student in need and comforted her by providing support. She is a wonderful example of compassion and exemplifies the importance of service to others.
Jamie Aldridge has matured and demonstrated a great deal of personal growth. She has become more outgoing, made stronger connections with friends and faculty and has shown entrepreneurial skills as she started her own nail business.
Additionally, counselor Sanju Liclican was chosen as a Model Citizen. Sanju assisted a student in distress. She asked the student about the root cause of her downtrodden feelings and not only comforted her but took action. The following morning, unbeknownst to any other staff, Sanju followed through to make sure that the student would feel more confident in herself throughout her day.
