Floral Park Memorial High School has named Maya Barravecchio and Ayushi Das as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the Class of 2024.
Maya is well-regarded in the building for her intellectual curiosity and academic drive. She is enrolled in 11 Advanced Placement classes, and is a member of the National, Math, Tri-M, Science, Social Studies and English Honor Societies. She serves as president of Model UN, attending numerous conferences and competing in simulated caucuses. During her junior year, she was selected as chair of the DISEC committee for the districtwide Model UN conference. Her debate skills earned her an Honorable Delegate Award at a district-organized Model UN Conference. Additionally, Maya is a member of Mathletes, Chamber Orchestra and the district’s Portrait of a Graduate committee. She has volunteered during the school’s Parent-Teacher Conferences and International Night, as well as helps at a food bank in New York City. During the spring and summer months, Maya utilizes her swimming skills as a lifeguard in Bayside.
Ayushi is known throughout the building as being a resourceful, resilient and precocious student. During her years at Floral Park Memorial, she has taken 11 Advanced Placement courses and has been on the High Honor Roll since seventh grade. Ayushi displays her leadership skills through her role as president of the Photography Club, president of the National Social Studies Honor Society, and vice president and state council representative for Future Business Leaders of America. This past summer, she spent time in Washington, D.C. as a senate page, where she attended to legislative activities on the Senate floor and helped set up the presiding officer’s desk by picking up the Congressional Records. In her spare time, Ayushi volunteers for YouthBridge. Additionally, she is the founder of her own wedding painting business, Ayushi’s Live Paintings, where she live-paints the couple during their celebratory day.
