The district is pleased to announce that Floral Park Memorial High School Assistant Principal Alicia Calabrese will be the building’s new principal. Her anticipated start date is Dec. 23.
Calabrese has been a dedicated member of the Sewanhaka community for over 25 years, beginning her career as an English teacher at Elmont Memorial High School. In 2004, she was promoted to chairperson of the English department; in 2007, she was promoted to the role of assistant principal. She served on the administrative team at Elmont Memorial until 2018 when she became assistant principal at Floral Park Memorial High School. Throughout her educational career, Calabrese has immersed herself in all aspects of middle and high school education, including master scheduling; Regents, state and AP testing; curriculum development; staff development; and student activities, among other responsibilities. She has been a staff development presenter at the building and district level. Additionally, she has served on multiple districtwide committees, most recently on the Portrait of a Graduate committee.
Calabrese is a graduate of St. John’s University and CUNY at Queens College.
“I am excited to take on this new role as principal of Floral Park Memorial, and I look forward to serving the students and families in this new capacity,” Calabrese said.
