On Dec. 20, Floral Park Memorial’s Virtual Enterprise firm, SafeStyle, participated in an in-school trade show where they highlighted their lineup of accessible jewelry designed to enhance the safety of their customers.
SafeStyle is a unique blend of a jewelry and personal safety device company. The product range includes rings, watches and bracelets, which are all equipped with a small button. This button, when pressed, sends the user's location to their emergency contacts, including 911, in case of danger. The aim of SafeStyle was to craft products that are both aesthetically pleasing and serve a practical purpose.
Virtual Enterprise allows students to experience all aspects of a business through a simulated business environment. Each day, students walk into their place of “work” versus a traditional classroom; essentially, they function more as “employees” in the business they will create and build. This workplace simulation is student operated, and enables them to understand how employees, workplace teams and departments interact with each other, while collectively working for the success of the company. Students engage in virtual trading with thousands of other firms around the world.
At the trade show, SafeStyle’s team impressed potential customers with the jewelry and the usefulness of the device. They’ve made over $200,000 in virtual sales.
