Floral Park Memorial High School proudly inducted its first class of athletes, coaches and teams into the Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony held on Feb. 8. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements and contributions of former Knights who have left a lasting legacy on the school’s athletic program. The inaugural class represents a diverse range of sports and eras, showcasing the rich athletic history of Floral Park Memorial. Inductees include: the 1987-1988 Girls Basketball Team, Christine Bach (Basketball), Ken Becker (Soccer and Track and Field Coach), Bruce Castoria (Baseball), Megan Galvin (Basketball), Samantha Giovanniello (Softball), Robert Gorman (Baseball Coach), 2008-2009 Softball Team, Greg Mayerhofer (Basketball Coach), Mary Jane Morra (Cross Country Coach and Athlete), Dan Sackman (Softball Coach), John Slevin (Cross Country, Winter and Spring Track), Emily Smith (Basketball), Kristin Valdner (Basketball), Lynne Wille (Soccer), and the 2015-2016 Girls Basketball Team.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony was a momentous occasion for the entire Floral Park community. The event brought together alumni, families and friends to honor the remarkable accomplishments of these individuals and teams. These inductees represent the best of what the athletic programs stand for – dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship and excellence. We are incredibly proud to celebrate their achievements and welcome them into the Hall of Fame. The selection of the inaugural class was a true community effort; nominations were submitted by members of the community, highlighting the strong connection between the school and its alumni and supporters. The Floral Park Memorial Athletic Hall of Fame will serve as an enduring tribute to the athletes, coaches and teams who have made significant contributions to the school’s athletic legacy. These inductees have set a new standard of excellence, inspiring future Knights to reach for their own greatness.
