Serena Daniel is one of the most reliable and helpful young ladies in our building. She can always be counted on to lend a helping hand and contribute to every activity she's involved in to the best of her ability, all while keeping upbeat and positive. In terms of being an effective leader, this senior of the month rises to the top and holds many key leadership positions, such as treasurer of the National Honor Society, secretary of both the Math and Music Honor Societies, secretary of the Spanish Leadership Club, president of Chosen Gen Christian Club, vice president of Road to Medicine, and senior editor of LOG. Our kind-hearted senior of the month was also an instrumental part of our Blood Drives and our Carey Kindness Committee. Here at Carey, she has also been a valuable member of science research, and plays the flute and bass for both our PIT Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. Her dedication to her studies has led this AP Scholar to being inducted into the National, Math, Music, English, Social Studies and World Language Honor Societies. Outside of school, she continues to help others through volunteering at a local hospital and at her church as well. Serena will be continuing her studies at Stony Brook University as a pre-med major.
Riya Binu is a selfless young lady who has been an active member of the H. Frank Carey community both in and out of the classroom. This senior is an extremely kind individual and friendly to all. She is an excellent scholar with an outstanding academic record, including memberships in the National, Math, English, Social Studies, Science and World Language Honor Societies. Her leadership positions include co-president of the Girls for Girls Club, editor in chief of the LOG, and member of the Leadership Physical Education program. Additionally, she is contributing member of the Class of 2023, Think Pink, Spanish Leadership, Road to Medicine, Mind over Matters, Math Olympiads, Desi Society and the African Culture Clubs. Beyond that, she has been a volunteer at Mercy Hospital since last summer where she has dedicated many hours working with patients and assisting in the emergency room. It was during this experience where she found her true passion: nursing. She will be attending LIU in the fall where she will pursue a degree in nursing.
Congratulations, Serena and Riya!
