Honor Societies/Honor Rolls
Scholarship Recognition Program - To recognize student effort and achievement at the end of each marking period except the last, the following lists will be established:
High Honor Roll - Students who have grades averaging 93 and no grade lower than 85 will be included. For each appearance on this list, a student will earn 2 honor points towards the scholar incentive awards. Physical Education is not included in the overall average.
Honor Roll - Students who have grades averaging 88 and no grade lower than 80 will be included. For each appearance on this list, a student will earn 1 honor point towards the scholar incentive awards. Physical Education is not included in the overall average.
Principal’s Recognition List - Students who have grades averaging 85 and no grade lower than 75 will be included. There are no honor points awarded for this category. Physical Education is not included in the overall average.
No student with a failure or incomplete grade in any subject including Physical Education may be considered for any of the above groups.
National Junior Honor Society - Students are considered for membership in this organization who have an accumulated average (excluding PE) of 90 or higher by the end of the second marking period of eighth grade (including grades from 7th grade - excluding PE), an accumulated average of 90 or higher by the end of the second marking period of the ninth grade (including all grades from 7th & 8th grade - excluding PE). A faculty committee will review the application for academic, service, leadership and teacher recommendation for each candidate. A successful candidate must receive a positive rating of character and leadership from his/her classroom teachers. Induction will take place in May of each year.
National Honor Society - Students who complete grade 11 with a cumulative grade point weighted average of 90 or higher meet the minimum academic standard for consideration for membership. A faculty committee will review the academic, service, leadership, and character record of each candidate. Those students who most highly meet these criteria in the judgment of the committee are inducted into the organization at a banquet help each year.
