FBLA Students Visit Elementary Schools for Junior Achievement

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students from Sewanhaka High School and Elmont Memorial High School partnered with New Hyde Park Road School and Junior Achievement to host High School Heroes, on May 16. High School Heroes is a program designed by Junior Achievement to connect personal and community values to enrich the education of elementary students.

The FBLA students worked in groups to design activities based on the teaching kits provided by Junior Achievement. Additionally, as part of the High School Heroes program, representatives from Junior Achievement conducted training on the activities and important aspects of teaching and classroom management.

The students taught lessons on financial literacy, civic engagement and community values for Road School students in grades K-3.

This experience reinforces 21st century skills and the Sewanhaka Central High School District Portrait of a Graduate model through providing opportunity for collaboration, communication and leadership development.
