On Dec. 5, 22 members of both the FCCLA Club and Sewanhaka Leadership attended the Long Island Leadership Symposium at Carle Place High School. Over 300 students from 15 districts in Nassau and Suffolk participated. Two guest speakers, Michael O'Connell and NYS Senator Elaine Phillips, spoke about the challenges of being a Leader.
The Sewanhaka students were chosen to host the other attendees in joint leadership team building activities and icebreakers. Students then joined breakout groups and collaborated with student leaders from other school districts, discussing a wide range of common issues. Fresh viewpoints and new bonds were the highlight of the day.
