Emily Lavin and Matthew Schwartz and Staff Member

H. Frank Carey High School has announced that Emily Lavin and Matthew Schwartz are the Seniors of the Month for November.

Emily is a phenomenally impressive senior with an outstanding record of academic, personal and extracurricular achievement. Academically, this student is in a league of her own. She has been named an AP Scholar with Distinction, having earned a 5 on seven out of eight AP exams to date. She has been inducted into six honor societies and has made the high honor roll every marking period she has been a student at Carey and her outstanding grade point average resulted in her being named Salutatorian for the Class of 2022. Outside of the classroom, she has made time to contribute positively to the community of HFC. She is cofounder and treasurer of Girls for Girls, an editor for the Yearbook, a writer for the Carey Clipper, varsity lacrosse player, and a member of Think Pink and the Class of 2022 Class Board. Additionally, she has served as a past vice president of the National Honor Society, as well as a past co-captain for Relay for Life. She is a leader and a role model, and her tremendous character has earned her the respect of her peers, the administration and the faculty.

Matthew is a dedicated and hardworking young man that exhibits every trait of a true scholar, athlete and a gentleman. This natural born leader has showcased his leadership skills as founder and co-president of the Big and Little Club and vice president of FBLA. November’s senior of the month is also an invaluable member of our Leadership Gym program and Stage Crew. His dedication to his academics has led to his inductions into the National, English, and Business honor societies, and an important member of the varsity track and baseball teams here at Carey. Outside of school, this hard worker holds two part-time jobs.

Congratulations, Emily and Matthew!
