The district welcomes Jennifer Alaimo as the principal of H. Frank Carey High School, effective at the start of the upcoming school year.
Alaimo has been a part of the Sewanhaka community for over 20 years, most recently serving as the assistant principal of Floral Park Memorial High School. Through her role as assistant principal, Alaimo assisted with the development and implementation of the district’s 1:1 initiative for all staff and students; created and implemented seventh grade orientation and articulation with the elementary school districts; served as an administrative liaison to various departments, including business, English, music, physical education, special education and world language; and created a building-level safety plan, among other accomplishments. Alaimo has also been a member of the district’s Shared Decision Making and Wellness Committees, as well as the district and building-level Social Emotional Learning Committees.
In the district, Alaimo has also held roles as the special education chairperson at Floral Park Memorial High School, the dean of students at Sewanhaka High School and as a special education teacher at Sewanhaka.
Alaimo earned her B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6)/Special Education (K-12) from St. John’s University, her Master of Science in Education from Queens College and her Educational Administration- School Building Leader certification from the College of Saint Rose.
