New Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

The district is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Faccio, the current principal of New Hyde Park Memorial High School, has been promoted to the role of assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, effective Aug. 1.


Dr. Faccio has served as principal of New Hyde Park Memorial for the past 12 years. Among his accomplishments throughout his tenure, he has evaluated and developed a new model of ENL in conjunction with the district coordinator and staff, including ENL co-teaching; assisted in the districtwide implementation of inclusion (co-teaching) with special education and general education staff in grades 7-12; supported a 1:1 technology initiative in grades 7-12, including the use of iPads, professional development for staff and support for students. Additionally, he implemented a Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) program in conjunction with the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and staff; and implemented a Social-Emotional Learning Model with the assistant superintendent for PPS and staff. He also participates in multiple districtwide activities, in-service workshops and committees, including: APPR, AIS-RTI, Articulation, Cultural Proficiency, Curriculum Council, District Accountability, Academic Eligibility, ENL Program Review, Equity Task Force, Future Ready Sewanhaka and Technology. Dr. Faccio has overseen the district’s Academy of Finance program and, for the past seven years, has served as the Sewanhaka District Building Administrators Association (S.D.B.A.A) Union Vice President.

In February 2024, Dr. Faccio received a Citation from Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for spirited leadership, dedication and service to the community.

Dr. Faccio received his Ed.D in Educational Administration from the University of Rochester – Warner School, his Master of Science in Computer Education and Certification in Business and Distributive Education from Nazareth College, and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from SUNY Fredonia.
