Plattduetsche Senior Home Society in Franklin Square hosted its first student art showcase on Feb. 27. The exhibition featured artwork from 25 talented students across the Sewanhaka Central High School District’s art program, from Art 7 to Advanced Placement Studio Art. Each artwork brought a unique perspective, contributing to a vibrant display of creativity and skill.
Administrators, educators, family members and senior residents from the Plattduetsche Senior Home Society attended the event to celebrate the students' artistic achievements. The student-artists were selected by their art teachers from the district’s five high schools to proudly present their artwork. Congratulations to the following students who had their work on display: Kimberly Aliscas, Alyssa Heron, Namanpreet Kaur, Nishita Patel and Jordan Rencher-Pellesier from Elmont Memorial; Briahna Bosten, Anthony Luna, Kelly Rodriguez-Abreu, Samantha Tavolacci and Wyatt Thompson from Floral Park Memorial; Sofia Campoli, Lola Errico, Emma Kirrane, Kate Ras and Gio Sepe from H. Frank Carey, Allison Chan, Emily Houng, Sofia Khan and Ingrid Niebergall from New Hyde Park Memorial; and Lilibeth Arroyo, Carla Burgos, Kiara Kisho, Christie Leveque, Maryam Nasir, Marissa Ramirez from Sewanhaka.
The SCHSD Art Department sincerely thanks the Plattduetsche Senior Home Society for the incredible opportunity to share and celebrate our student artistry with the community. Their hospitality and support are truly invaluable. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Superintendent Regina Agrusa for fostering a meaningful connection between the art department and the Plattduetsche Senior Home Society. Her dedication has provided students with a valuable platform to showcase their creativity and engage with the community in a meaningful way.
