Students and staff at H. Frank Carey High School dressed in shades of purple to honor P.S. I Love You Day on Feb. 11. The mission of this day, which is held every year on the second Friday of February, is to inspire mental health awareness and decrease bullying. The theme this year was “One Step at a Time.”
Throughout the day, students celebrated P.S. I Love You Day by participating in various in-class and schoolwide activities. They decorated rocks with positive messages, which will be installed outside the school building. There were also bracelet-making and coloring stations set up in the hall. In Business classes, students created an ad that promotes positivity. Computer classes created a digital advertisement, while all other classes made print advertisements. They were then displayed in the business hall. Math classes utilized the theme to write ways of handling problems on hawk footprints, and then hung them in a continuous path around the building. In the World Language classes, students wrote notes of gratitude, thanking those that have impacted their life. The cards, which were written in the target language and in English, will be distributed throughout the year.
Additionally, the classroom doors throughout the building were decorated with purple designs and kind messages.
